You’re Already a Coach

(Now Let’s Make It a Business)

Hey Coach,

Let’s get real: You’re already putting in the hours.

  • Running practices

  • Hosting camps

  • Doing private sessions

  • Traveling to tournaments

  • Mentoring athletes

But most coaches never treat their work like a real business—and that means they miss out on money, freedom, and opportunity.

This week, we’re flipping the switch:

How to turn your coaching into a real, revenue-generating business—without burning out.

🛠️ Step 1: Choose Your Business Model

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Choose a model that fits your time, skills, and goals:

  • 🏀 Private Training (individual or small group)

  • 🏕️ Camps & Clinics (seasonal or summer-based)

  • 📲 Digital Products (drills, workouts, templates)

  • 🎤 Speaking, consulting, or team training

You can build around one of these—or mix and match.

🧱 Step 2: Build a Foundation

You don’t need an LLC to get started—but you do need structure:

  • Create a coaching-only bank account

  • Use payment tools (Stripe, Venmo Business, Square)

  • Keep a log of income and expenses

  • Build a simple Google Form or landing page to collect leads

The key is to treat it like a business, even if it’s part-time.

📣 Step 3: Get the Word Out

Start where you are:

  • Post training openings on social media

  • Email former players or families

  • Ask your school, club, or local rec leagues to share your info

  • Use Canva to make a simple flyer

Your reputation as a coach is already your best marketing tool.

🧠 Step 4: Set Your Rate—and Raise It Over Time

Coaches undercharge because we love what we do. But passion isn’t a discount code.

✅ Start with a fair rate
✅ Track your time
✅ Raise it as demand grows or your skills improve

🔁 Step 5: Think Long-Term

This isn’t just about side money—it’s about building something sustainable.

Want to run year-round camps?
Want to go full-time one day?
Want to teach younger coaches?

You don’t need to figure it all out now. But start building systems now that grow with you.

This Week’s Game Plan

  1. Pick your business lane (training, camps, etc.)

  2. Open a coaching account if you haven’t yet

  3. Share what you offer on social or email

  4. Create a basic tracker for income & time

  5. Raise your rate if it’s time

You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to start.

See you next week,
